Flemmys -Slices (Biscotti Cookies)

Grandma Flemmy slices recipe

INGREDIENTS:

  • 6 Eggs
  • 6 level Tsp baking powder
  • 2 Cups sugar
  • 1 Tsp Anise oil (3-4 Tsp if using extract)
  • Sliced almonds (1-2 to 1 Cup)
  • 2 sticks salted butter softened
  • 5-1/2 to 6 Cups flower depending on egg size to make nice dough.

DIRECTIONS:

Pre-heat oven to 375F, Mix all ingredients less almonds but adding flour last. Turn out the dough onto a lightly flowered surface and work in additional flour as needed to create a dough that is slightly stickey. Food id the sliced almonds, quantity at your discretion. Cut in to 8 equal pieces. Roll out each piece individually into a long tube about 1″ diameter. Place the long rolls onto a cookie sheet or sheet pan and Let rest for 20 minuets. Bake for 20 – 25 minutes in center of the oven. Remove from oven and cool to slice. Slice the rolls at a 45 degree angle and cut cookie to a width of roughly 1″. Place the sliced cookies back onto the baking tray, one of the cut sides down, bake near the top of the oven to brown 3-5 minuets, turn cookies over and repeat. Cookies will most likely brown on bottom first. Cool and enjoy. Great for dipping in coffee 😊
